WHAT HAS AED DONE FOR ME (April Ambrose)?

When I started Arkansas Earth Day in 2004 as Conway Earth Day, I did not know that it would change my life. I simply knew that there was a need to get together all of the green resources the city had to offer. So, I rolled up my sleeves and made it happen.

Now, only three short years later, I am considering starting my own environmental consulting company. Not because I’ve always had that dream, but because people are coming to me and asking for help getting their own green dreams started!

In only four years I went from working for someone else to starting my own business. All because I donated my time for four years (while working a full time job) to achieve something that I saw needed to be done.

However, AED has grown literally exponentially! It is now impossible for me to continue this effort without significant help from the community! Each year I start fresh planning for the next festival with little to no funds and no volunteers but myself. I recruit new volunteers, train them, and basically just try to hold things together and make sure that the event happens! I need your help!

WHAT CAN AED DO FOR YOU?

You will get out of AED the energy that you put into it!

Coordinators (leaders of festival planning committees) need to be able to meet monthly (or weekly as we get closer to the event), in central Arkansas. Each of these coordinators would be completely in charge of achieving their aspect of the festival. In the process they would report directly to the Executive Director, lead volunteers to help them achieve their goals, work with other Coordinators, and community businesses and organizations. An optimal candidate here would be a person: has time to help, has the support of their company to take time to work on this, has experience in leadership, works well with all types of people, can reliably answer phone, emails, and meet in person in Little Rock.

Supporters are members of each festival planning committee. With guidance from the Coordinators, they are people all over the state that work on a specific aspect of the event. If you have skills, but don’t know what you’d like to work on, just email us and we’ll find the perfect place for you!

So you don’t know what you’re capable of, but you know you want to help?

There’s a place for you! Just sign up for our volunteer emailed newsletter and you’ll get notices about specific needs that we have!

Or contact us and we’ll individually fit you with something great!

If you are interested in helping on any level, just contact Claire, Executive Director, for more info at 508-221-0042, or info@arkansasearthday.org.
