Sierra Club "No New Coal" Event to Feature 25-Foot Tall Inflatable Power Plant!

Hello all—
>
> Here’s the official media advisory for this Saturday’s “no new coal”
> press conference in Little Rock.  We’ve obtained a great visual—a giant
> inflatable power plant!  Should be great.
>
> However, we need numbers!  Please show up if you’re in town this
> Saturday, and bring as many friends as you can pack into your car.
> Forward this email to your lists and invite folks to come by.  Bring
> your own anti-coal signs if you like.   The more, the merrier!
>
> Hope to see you on Saturday((GLEN))

> SIERRA CLUB:  “NO NEW COAL” PRESS CONFERENCE
> Event Will Feature Gigantic Inflatable Model of Dirty, Coal-Fired
> Power Plant
>
> The Arkansas Sierra Club will hold a press conference at the following
> date, time, and location:
>
>             WHAT:             Sierra Club “No New Coal” Press Conference
>             WHEN:             Saturday, March 29th, 2008, Noon
>             WHERE:           River Market Pavilion (Little Rock)
>             WHO:               Representatives from Sierra Club and Arkansas Wildlife Federation, others TBA
>
> At the event, we will present compelling arguments and facts aimed at
> stopping the approval and construction of dirty, coal-fired power
> plants in Arkansas.  Currently, two such coal-fired power plants are
> being considered for Arkansas—one in southwest Arkansas and one in
> northeast Arkansas.
>
> These plants, if approved, will spew millions of tons of carbon
> dioxide, mercury, and other hazardous pollutants into our air, water
> and bodies.  The pollution poses significant risks to our state’s
> environmental and public health, as well as placing unnecessary
> obstacles in the way of economic development.
>
> The Sierra Club will also have a 25-foot tall inflatable model of a
> power plant on site, as a dramatization of the battle underway.
>
> EXCELLENT VISUALS:    Huge, inflatable power plant; activists holding
> “No New Coal” signs; activists recording “video postcards” urging
> Arkansas leaders to reject new dirty power plants for Arkansas.
>
> The public and media are invited to attend.
